2009-P Formative Years Lincoln Cent Doubled Dies

Seven Fingers Variety
Order as FY#1

This is the very best of the 7-Finger varieties! It exhibits a very widely separated and well-defined extra index finger just below Lincoln’s left thumb plus significant vestiges of a secondary middle finger between the thumb and index finger.  Because this one shows seven "extra fingers" to better advantage than of any of the other varieties known to date is in my opinion, the top variety for the entire series and is noted as such in the Variety Coin Register (VCR).  Listing Numbers: FS-801, CONECA: DDR-043, Wexler: WDDR-043, Crawford: CDDR-036, CopperCoins: 1DR-037.

Order as FY#1
MS-63 $24.95, MS64 $35.00, MS65 $49.95, MS66 $65.00

Seven Fingers Variety
Order as FY#2

This is the arguably the second best (some might argue it’s the best because of the doubling along the top of the book) of the 7-Finger varieties! It exhibits a very widely separated and well-defined extra index finger just below Lincoln’s left thumb plus significant vestiges of a secondary middle finger between the thumb and index finger.  It also shows strong doubling of the upper book cover!  Listing Numbers: FS-802, CONECA: 1-R-VII, Wexler: WDDR-002, Potter: VCR#1/DDR#1, Crawford: CDDR-001 & Coppercoins: 1DR-007.

 Order as FY#2
MS-63 $24.95, MS64 $35.00, MS65 $49.95, MS66 $65.00
ANACS-65 RD w/Wexler No. WDDR-002 on holder (only one in stock) $65.00

Six Fingers Variety
Order as FY#3

One of the nicest of the six-finger 2009-P Formative Years doubled die cents! Features a well defined yet sort of anorexic-looking secondary index finger displayed far north just under the thumb. Because the doubling of the index finger is relatively strong and well separated with no overlap between the thumb and index finger, it is one of the easiest of the 6-Finger varieties to see.  Thus it falls within the VCR's Top Dozen Formative Years Doubled Die Reverse listing for this date and Mintmark.  Listing Numbers: FS-807, CONECA: 2-R-VIII, Wexler: WDDR-016, Potter: VCR#4/DDR#4, Crawford: DDR-012.

Order as FY#3
MS63 $19.95, MS64 $24.95, MS65 $29.95, MS66 $45.00

Another top doubled die on a 2009-P Formative Years cent! It shows a very widely spaced index finger down below the pinky finger!  This is the only truly significant Formative Years doubled die with a secondary finger shifted south! Because this is widest reverse doubled die known for the series with a secondary finger shifted south, it falls within the VCR's Top Dozen Formative Years Doubled Die listed for this date and Mintmark. Listing Numbers: FS-805, CONECA: DDR-026, Wexler: WDDR-025, Crawford: CDDR-026. CopperCoins 1DR-026.

Not one of the top dozen in the VCR but none-the-less a rather decent doubled die on a 2009-P Formative Years cent that is quite a bit nicer than the majority of minors known for this series (some of which are so minor that I consider them "fly-specks" and wouldn't even list 'em in spite of the fact others are).  It shows a virtually complete secondary left index finger just above the normal index finger.  There are also some minor vestiges of the spine of the book pointed out by the smaller red arrows.  Listing Numbers: CONECA: 57-R-VIII, Wexler: WDDR-057, Potter: VCR#7/DDR#7, Crawford: CDDR-43 & Coppercoins: 1DR-035.

Order as FY#6

For those who don’t know it, there are dozens of minor doubled dies known for the 2009-P Formative Years cents.  Most involve Lincoln’s fingers. They are not the majors we’re offering in our national ads but collectable nonetheless, especially to the die-hard specialists trying to collect one of each of all of them.  We’ll send you a nice mixture of a dozen different BU varieties, all legitimate doubled dies, with listing numbers included on the holders.

     $49.00 per package of 12
