NOTE: Please review these images to see the awesome quality and beauty of the designs. These photographs were taken professionally for our catalog. The photos for the various coins and sets offered below were from an old scanner and do not capture the true essence of the coins. However, they are all just as nice as the silver dollar coin shown here! |
This is a flawless "cameo" proof strike; the backgrounds are perfect reflective "blazing-mirrors" (which show up jet-black in scans) and the designs are frosty white (which, of course show up white in scans). The contrast between the mirror-like backgrounds and design is stunning! It weighs one-ounce, is struck in .999 pure silver and measures 39 mm (a bit larger than a U.S. silver dollar). Total Mintage 100 Pieces
One of our suppliers (who held the
contract to strike the Principality of Sealand coins back in 1994) came up
with the idea of making a U.S. Navy Seals Medallion last year and when the die
was finished, he ordered 75 pieces struck in silver-clad and 100 in silver, as "trials" to see how they
looked and have a few to start selling if they looked good.
When he was asked which reverse die to use (of the many he
has) he said, anything for the "trial strikes" will do and we'll
figure out later which one we will use on a regular basis.
To his surprise the production department decided to use the
reverse die for the old Sealand Half-Dollars and dollars (for the 1oz silver
version) just because it was of a nautical
theme. WRONG! These reverse dies should have never been used mated to
a medallion die! But instead of scrapping them out, the owner of the coins
sent them back to the production department and had them edge-marked:
"ERROR 25 of 75" (or whatever the appropriate number was that preceded
the "of 75" portion of the edge inscription) for the silver clad and
"25 of 100" (or whatever the appropriate #) . I purchased 30 of
the 75 silver-clad and all 100 of the silver. As best as I know, I am the
only person to have any
of these for sale. These are rare! Every one is edge-marked with its own unique serial
number along with the total Minted in this manner. They are 39 mm in
diameter, weight about 26 grams and are clad with 100 mils of pure silver for
the half-dollar coin and 1oz. pure .999 fine for the dollar coins.

This Image Shows The Rare Scalloped Edge Variety
Laying On Top Of A Regular Reeded Edge Variety
The coin offered here was struck in error
with an "experimental" Scalloped Edge. We found these in a hoard
of Sealand coins that we purchased some time ago without even knowing the
variety existed until we recently opened all the tubes. A quick call to
the original distributor revealed that they had never seen the variety
previously either. They, in turn, called the minting facility to find out what
happened and learned that a small number of these coins were struck with what
they described as an "experimental collar" that was not intended to be
used with this coin at all; the errors apparently "slipped in" with
the regular strikes by mistake! A total count of the entire remaining
inventory of this coin indicates that fewer than 150 were struck before the
error was caught and then corrected!
This is a flawless "cameo" proof strike; the
backgrounds are perfect reflective "blazing-mirrors" (which show up
jet-black in scans) and the designs are frosty white (which, of course show up
white in scans). The contrast between the mirror-like backgrounds and

and measures 39 mm (a bit larger than a U.S. silver dollar). Add
