"When you stop to think about it - this is a very rare opportunity!  On average,
only one collector per State in the USA will ever get to own one of these!"

This beautiful tribute to Detroit Red Wings Hockey-Great, Steve Yzerman is a very rare golden-bronze trial strike!  The die combination for the front and back is officially designated by coin collectors as a "mule." A mule is a coin (or medal) that is struck with mismatched dies that were not intended to be paired together.  Mules are generally very popular with coin collectors (referred to as numismatists) with a low mintage mule on a current United States coin recently selling for over $70,000!
In this case, the reverse was supposed to feature the Stanley Cup from a coinage die of the exact diameter of the Yzerman die.  Instead, a more generic reverse that had been used years earlier of a slightly smaller diameter was installed into the press.  The result was that the Yzerman 39mm die was mated to a Red Wings 38mm reverse die!  This caused some slight but interesting flaring around the rims on the reverse.  These were minted as trials to see how the designs were striking up at which point the error was noticed.  All were destroyed except a few errors which included 32 of these mules in silver and 50 in bronze!  We purchased all and will offer these rare items until they are gone.  When you stop to think about it -- this is a very rare opportunity!  On average, only one collector per State in the USA will ever get to own one of these!  This item will be of interest to anybody collecting rare Hockey memorabilia or errors coins.  The winner of this auction will receive the exact item shown here.
It weighs 26 grams, is struck in solid golden-bronze and measures 39 mm (a bit larger than an old US silver dollar).

"On average, far fewer than one collector per State
in the USA will ever get to own one of these sets!"

This beautiful tribute to Hockey-Great, Steve Yzerman is a very rare two coin set with one medal struck in pure silver and the other struck in golden-bronze.  These were Trial Strikes made from a die combination never made again!
On average, far fewer than one collector per State in the USA will ever get to own one of these sets!  In fact
from the meager mintages noted above we have assembled just 20 sets (the balance will be offered as single coins to those who prefer to buy just one or the other)!
This item will be of interest to anybody collecting rare Hockey memorabilia or errors coins.  The winner of this auction will receive the exact item shown here.
The bronze coin weighs 26 grams and is struck in solid golden-bronze while the silver coin contains exactly 31.1 grams or one Troy ounce of .999 fine silver (the industry standard for pure).   They both measure 39 mm (a bit larger than an old US silver dollar).

"On average, far fewer than one collector per State in the USA
will ever get to own one of these sets!"

Offered at $65.00 per set
