!!!Very Few Of These Left!!!
This is one of the scarcest "challenge coin" type medals made during the Gulf War. It was produced by a Minting authority for sale at a Reno show they attended, in a mintage of only 500 pieces. According to a published report by TMC in their May/June 1991 issue of their newsletter, A Closer Look ...
"attendance at the show wasn't much so we only sold about 300 pieces. We later realized, that with a total mintage of only 500 pieces, this had to be the rarest collectible of the Desert Shield - Desert Storm Gulf War!"
They then offered the balance of
pieces to dealers on their mailing list. With recent events, we dug deep
into our vault and pulled some of this memorabilia out for sale including a few
of these medals. Once many of the scarcer items like this one are gone
they will be very difficult to locate again. A unique memento
to anybody who served in the Gulf War or for the collector of military
memorabilia.
With its Reno theme this coin may also act as an
excellent "Poker Hole-Card Protector" when playing Texas Hold 'Em or
other forms of poker such as Omaha or Seven 7 Card Stud, where players can
use this coin to secure their down cards during play. It's
for those folks looking for something really unusual and of extremely high
quality -- and in this case -- rarity. This is a flawless "cameo"
proof-like strike; the backgrounds are perfect reflective
"blazing-mirrors" and the designs are frosty white. The contrast
between the mirror-like backgrounds and designs is stunning! It is a
one-ounce pure silver strike that measures 39 mm, which is a bit larger than the
old U.S. silver dollars that were so popular in Las Vegas gambling casinos in
years gone by. Add this one to your collection today!

In 1938 The Berlin Mint issued a Commemorative Silver
Medal to mark the historic meeting of Hitler & Mussolini. Today that medal is
very rare and you'd have to pay approximately $400 or more if you could even find
one. Later that same medal was released by a private entity as a .999 Silver 1 Unze
(1 Ounce) reproduction which we offer an example of here! The reverse of
this medal is the same as the original except that it is marked 1 UNZE .999 F.S.
in a very small font to help differentiate it from the original.

Hitler -- Mussolini
Old-Style High Relief Obverse
1938 Meeting
of Hitler & Mussolini
Commemorative Medal
One Ounce Pure Silver
Old-Style High Relief
Obverse
This is the same as the one offered above
except that the obverse (front) of this coin was struck with an older die that
was in much higher relief than the die that later replaced it. The higher
relief resulted in greater detail of the conjoined busts of Mussolini and Hitler
making it a far more astatically pleasing design than the
one to follow. In fact, it was so high in relief that it took more than
average pressure to strike the early pieces and an interesting hairline die
crack developed in it almost immediately causing the die to shatter
prematurely. In addition to the greater detail this one also features wire
rims rather than the wide rims on the die that replaced it. Very few of
these exist today and even the ones we see from time to time on eBay, where the
sellers use their original photographs, disappointingly
turn out to be the newer variety instead of the scarce one they show.
This is a flawless "cameo" proof-like strike; the
backgrounds are perfect reflective "blazing-mirrors" (which show up jet-black in
scans) and the designs are frosty white (which, of course show up white in scans).
The contrast between the mirror-like backgrounds and designs is stunning! It weighs

This fabulous U.S Navy Desert Storm medal is made of one ounce .999 pure silver and is 39 mm in diameter (larger than a silver dollar)! It exhibits some of the nicest die tripling that I've ever seen on a coin or medal. The tripling shows particularly strong on the entire date on the reverse. This tripling is super naked-eye stuff!
As if this wasn't enough, the obverse displays a neat tripled die on much of UNITED STATES NAVY. While strong doubling is most apparent, close observation will show that there is actually evidence of a very light early impression displayed as an almost complete and almost separate "A" that can be detected between the strongly doubled "A" and "T" of STATES and as a remnant of an extra upper loop of the final "S" of STATES (not shown here but easily detected with the naked eye). Both of these tripled letters are extremely wide but too light to photograph to best advantage, (due to their lack of depth) and noted here for completeness. You will be able to easily detect them on the actual coin by tilting it around in the light and looking in the areas noted above.
It appears that after the manufacturer created the three misaligned images on the NAVY obverse, he finally gave up on completing the die, as the full design appears incomplete; designs such as the flag and sails on the ship are floating in mid-air sans the mast. This is a magnificent treat for collectors of doubled dies and error collectors in general! Collectors of military and/or Navy memorabilia will love this one too!
The variety is listed in the Variety Coin Register as VCR#2/DDO#2/DDR#2.
The photos shown are from one of several specimens that I have in stock. They are a perfect representation of the die stage, strength and clarity of the variety offered here.

From the sales pitch originally used to sell
the coin: Two Brave Men stood up against the carping criticism of
our "Supposed Allies" in the United Nations and leftist Hollywood Personalities
-- to do the right thing. They led a coalition of brave fighting men and women to a
stunning victory over the true "Forces of Evil". The discovery of the
Killing Fields and the Torture Chambers of Iraq stand as a grim testament to this
humanitarian effort -- an effort that was noble and right!
George W. Bush and Tony Blair, emerged from this incredible effort
as the true "Leaders of the Free World".

The
Normandy Invasion, codenamed Overlord, began on 6th June 1944.
After a month-long air offensive and an allied plan of deception which fooled
Hitler into believing that the main attack would come in Pas de Calais, where he
held back a powerful armored division, the largest amphibious landing in history
got underway. In the early hours of 6th June, Allied airborne troops
landed to seize control of strategic bridges and coastline defenses on the
flanks of the invasion zone. The first Allied troops came ashore at
6:30pm. By midnight on 6th June, 57,500 US and 75,000 British and Canadian
troops had landed in Normandy. By 25th August 1944 Paris had been
liberated by these brave allied soldiers.
Pictured above is the new British Commonwealth Legal Tender
Commemorative Coin that has been issued by the Cook Islands to honor this
event. Featured on it's reverse is an outstanding rendition of the
landing.
This is a flawless "cameo" proof strike; the backgrounds
are perfect reflective "blazing-mirrors" (which show up jet-black in scans) and
the designs are frosty white (which, of course show up white in scans). The contrast
between the mirror-like backgrounds and design is stunning! It weighs 26.5 grams, has a plain edge, is struck in .999 100 mil pure silver-clad and measures
39.2 mm (a bit larger than a silver
dollar). Add this one to your collection today!

By 1943 the tide of
World War II was turning. The Soviet Red Army was pushing back the Germans
in Eastern Europe. The Allies had defeated them in North Africa and were
advancing through Italy. On 6th June 1944 (D-Day), Allied troops landed in
occupied France and began to battle their way eastwards. German was devastated
by Allied bombing raids and finally surrendered in 8th May 1945 - Victory
in Europe Day (VE Day).
Pictured above is the new British Commonwealth Legal Tender
Commemorative Coin that has been issued by the Cook Islands to honor this
event. Featured on it's reverse is an outstanding rendition of General Dwight
D. Eisenhower.
